In the UK for some time now companies have been fitting free solar panels.
The advantage for the companies is clear , by taking advantage of the FIT tariff they will get a good return for every unit of Electricirty generated.
The advantage for the customer is less clear cut. The bulk of the free energy is generated during the day when many poeople are at work. Even if you are at home it is difficult to monitor and switch demand according to the amount being generated.
My own home for example generally uses around 500 wattts during the day and around 1100watts at night. I am therefore not using anywhere close to my solar generation during the day ( assuming a sunny day ).
The answer is my solar controller, this will control up to three power sockets remotely and only switch them on when sufficient solar is being generated . Thus appliances can be controlled anywhere in the home and switched accordingly.
