In the UK for some time now companies have been fitting free solar panels.

The advantage for the companies is clear , by taking advantage of the FIT tariff they will get a good return for every unit of Electricirty generated.

The advantage for the customer is less clear cut. The bulk of the free energy is generated during the day when many poeople are at work. Even if you are at home it is difficult to monitor and switch demand according to the amount being generated.

My own home for example generally uses around 500 wattts during the day and around 1100watts at night. I am therefore not using anywhere close to my solar generation during the day ( assuming a sunny day ).

The answer is my solar controller, this will control up to three power sockets remotely and only switch them on when sufficient solar is being generated . Thus appliances can be controlled anywhere in the home and switched accordingly.

  2. Hello Dave,
I managed to order one. I didn't realise you have to register for e-Bay to be able to buy.
Look forward to the controller and will send you details about its functioning as soon as it's up and running.
    Best wishes, Dirk

  3. Hello Dave,
I've been looking for a control system and found very expensive ones at, but they don't seem to be available in UK.
I tried eBay mentionned in your site, but obviously they don't sell them there any longer.
Can you tell me where I can buy a set as you described?
    Best regards,
    Dirk (East Sussex)

  4. Hi,

The unit can control up to 12 wireless sockets but only 3 automatically. The rest can only be monitored and switched manually from the controller.

  10. Brilliant device! A very very clever way of using every last bit of power you generate! Easy set-up, and clear instructions. A great company to deal with. Very helpful. Many thanks.
